31 Weeks
Baby girl is now a little over 3.5 pounds. Last week we had a sonogram as part of the typical high blood pressure routine. At this point they like to check for growth because people with high blood pressure can have smaller babies, but right now she is measuring exactly on target. It was great to see her moving around in there. She had one foot pressed against her forehead and the other bent at the knee like she was doing hurdles. It is so funny to see how flexible babies are! She seemed quite happy with that foot against her face. Probably a new discovery for her -- so cute!
Everything looked great on the baby, but my amniotic fluid was on the low side of normal. The doctor just said to drink more and try to take it easy. I have been working on drinking more water, but the taking it easy thing doesn't always happen with a toddler running around. I honestly think I was able to sit and "rest" more when I was working than I do now. Penelope is a great helper and can do so much for herself now, but she still keeps me very busy throughout the day.
The doctor also told me that I had to have weekly biofeedback tests until the baby comes. It basically is just a nonstress test (like I had with Penelope) and also a sonogram. She gave me a choice between the nonstress tests twice a week (like with Pip) or biofeedback once a week. I went with the once a week choice because it is a pain to try to make it to the doctor twice a week (not counting my regular OB appointments). The good news is that I will get to see the baby every week!
I talked to the doctor about delivery and she said that as long as everything continued to go well, she would deliver me between 38 and 39 weeks. That's when Penelope was delivered, so I'm fine with that. After 39 weeks, there are just too many extra risks with me having high blood pressure. So far my blood pressure has only increased a little bit over the pregnancy. They are still managing it with a fairly low dose of medicine which is good. I am praying for a healthy rest of the pregnancy!
We are all very excited for the baby to get here! It is hard to believe that she will be here in less than 8 weeks! We have all the baby stuff pulled out of our storage room, but it's really just thrown everywhere in the basement. I have worked pretty hard to get the nursery put back into newborn-ready shape. We don't have a lot to do before the baby comes. There are still a handful of things that we need to get for this baby, but they shouldn't be a big deal. We registered at a few places last month so that we could get the freebies and coupons for the few things we do need. Kevin and I used it as a "day date" and also enjoyed a nice lunch out. It was fun to see all the new things that have come out for babies since Penelope was born. Baby stuff is just too cute!
I can't wait for all the joy this new little one will bring us.
