33 Weeks
So, this baby has caused another little bump in the road. She really is trying to make sure she is getting enough attention! I went in for my regular sonogram last Thursday and didn't get the best news. My amniotic fluid levels had dropped. My fluid at 31 weeks was measuring at an 8 and then at 32 weeks it was at a 10. It was good that it had gone up some. However, when I went in on Thursday, it had dropped down to 5.7. If it gets below 5, it can be critical and they would most likely have to induce me. So, when it measured 5.7, they sent me to the hospital to get a non-stress test. The non-stress test checks the baby's heart rate over a period of time. Luckily, the baby passed the test and I was able to go home. My doctor had been off that day so another doctor had just told me to take it easy and drink more fluids. I also have to go back for a sonogram today (Monday) rather than waiting until Thursday.
I got home and a few hours later, my doctor's nurse called. She said that Dr. Martinez had been checking her e-mail from home and saw my sonogram go through. When she saw it, she immediately called her nurse to call me and put me on bed rest. I can get up to shower, eat, and go to the bathroom but that's it. So, that's all I've done since Thursday. I have also been drinking fluids like crazy. I have drank at least 100 ounces of fluid each day; almost all of it being just plain water. We have our appointment today at 3:00 and are feeling pretty anxious about what will happen.
Just to add to the fun of this new challenge, Kevin has to take the Kansas bar exam tomorrow in Topeka. Obviously, we will see what happens at this appointment before he heads to Topeka.
The good news about all of this is that everyone has really poured out love and support for us, and it reminds us just how blessed we are. My mom is taking care of Penelope on weekdays and my dad came up and cleaned this weekend, plus brought us some homemade freezer meals. All of our other friends and family have offered prayers and help however we need it. We know that God will provide as we make it through this bump in the road!
