We decided to wait to tell Penelope that she was going to be a big sister until after the first trimester and she is now very happy about it! She likes to tell people that there is a baby in my tummy and that she is going to be a "BIG sister!" She emphatically announces the "big." I will say though, the very first time we told her she was going to be a big sister she replied with, "no, I want something else." I doubt that will be the only time in her life that she'll want "something else" besides a sibling.
My doctor visits have all gone well so far and the genetic testing all came back clear. I have one more part of the genetic testing to do in a couple weeks but so far there is no sign of a major defect (including spina bifida, which is the main concern due to family history). The baby's first heartbeat check was 162 and the second one was 144. Both are nice and strong, but Penelope's was never in the 140s, so that also makes me think it might be a boy.
Here's my growing bump. It is definitely popping out faster than with the first! Those muscles were ready to stretch!
