35 Weeks

A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks.  We went to the doctor for my regular visit last Thursday and found out that my blood pressure was really high.  They said I'll for sure be on bed rest until the baby comes and that they may need to deliver the baby early.  They sent me over to the hospital for testing.  Well, this sent Kevin and I into a bit of a panic because we definitely were not prepared to deliver the baby that night.  Luckily, Kevin had went with me to this appointment because he had planned on leaving for a ski trip this week.  We were going to check that everything was good for him to leave me for a week.  Needless to say, he did not go on the ski trip.

Anyway, I stayed in the hospital Thursday night and all day Friday.  It was a long stay but I got released Friday around 9:30pm because all of the tests came back with good results.  There were a couple of good things about staying in the hospital.  Kevin and I got a dry run at me being in the delivery room.  We got some things figured out about the room plus we got to test out the maternity bag we had packed the week before.  The other good thing is below.  We got to have another ultrasound!

Here's little girl Prewitt at 35 weeks and 1 day.  She was 5 lbs 6 oz.  Everything looked great on her.  They checked her internal organs and everything.  She doesn't seem to mind my high blood pressure right now.  They would just like for her to stay in there for a few more weeks to finish development.

As for me, I'm on bed rest.  I also have to go for Non Stress Tests at the doctor's office twice a week now.  Baby passed Monday's tests.  Should she not pass a test, that means another hospital stay and possibly delivery.

Poor Kevin is stuck doing everything.  He even finished the baby shopping (which I was sad to miss out on).  He did a great job following the list, though.  While bed rest sucks for me and is a complete mess for work, I think it is pretty terrible for him.  I hope he makes it!

Here's Kevin with the empathy belly on.  This was at our childbirth class last week.  He was a great sport about it.

Kevin assembling the stroller.  We can now officially take the baby home since we have our baby seat!  He's been very busy assembling baby stuff.  He even did all the baby's laundry yesterday (with my guidance and help folding).

Here I am at the baby shower Jeannine and Kiki threw for me in Columbia.  It was so nice of them to host the shower; I had a wonderful time and got some great stuff for the baby!  We played some of the classic baby shower games, including the string around the belly one.  Pretty much everyone did a terrible job on that one-- they thought I was about twice the size I really am.

This picture cracked me up.  It's like a "before" and "after" picture.

I also had another shower after this one, and apparently just in time.  On Thursday, during out typical weekly English department meeting, the department through me a surprise book shower.  We had some tasty treats and then each of them had brought their favorite children's books to give me.  What a great idea!  My department is the best.

Here's a look at the nursery post-showers, pre-organization.  It looks considerably better already, but I'll be sure to post pictures once it's all organized.  We were so blessed with gifts for the baby.  This little girl is definitely going to be spoiled and VERY loved!

Speaking of being loved, several of my friends from school have organized weekly dinners for Kevin and I.  Our first was tonight and it was delicious.  Kevin enjoyed the break from being a "housewife."

Despite this little bump in the road, all I can say is that we are both so excited about everything and happy to be so blessed.  Now, I just have to sit back and wait (oh and grade 53 senior research papers).
