The shower was held at my friend and co-worker's house and was absolutely fantastic. My English department ladies (and wonderful friends) hosted the shower and made it a very special occasion. At the shower we had some wonderful food and cake, and the guests had some fun activities to enjoy while we all mingled. The guests took guesses on the baby's name, due date, and size then they partnered up and used puff paint to decorate little onesies for me. I was so impressed with the turn out at the shower; I really work with some great ladies! I felt very loved and was definitely "showered" with gifts!
I think Kevin is starting to realize how real the baby is now and is doing a great job of trying to be helpful in preparations for her arrival. When I got home from school yesterday, he proudly showed me how he had assembled the swing my mom had just gotten us. (And I hadn't even asked him to do it!) Not to mention he took a few notes at birthing class the other night and declared, "I guess I won't be going to class while you're in labor." What progress!
This week will be very busy with baby stuff as we have 2 childbirth classes and a meeting with the maternity care coordinator. We have our regular class on Wed. but we also have a make-up class on Monday since the snow storm caused one class to be cancelled. The meeting with the maternity coordinator is where we get to tour the hospital and prepare a birth plan -- very important stuff.
In other updates, little girl Prewitt is supposed to be the size of a pineapple now and getting close to 5 pounds. I am definitely starting to get uncomfortable but it is good to know she is growing. Very exciting times right now, and I have to say that I am super excited for my shower in Columbia next weekend. I know it will be a great time!
